What makes the difference

A complete upper endoscopy, on a real patient.

Not a model, and not only a simulator. With Prof. Wahba beside you, you hold the scope and run a full examination: intubation, oesophagus, stomach and duodenum, step by step, with the patient's consent and under full clinical supervision.

  • Direct one-to-one supervision for every trainee
  • A small group, so the scope is really in your hands
  • Individual feedback on your grip and your control of the wheels
Walk the photo stations

Know where you are, every time.

A systematic gastroscopy stops at the same stations every time. Step through them here: what to look for at each, and the mistake beginners make there.

Programme

Built on what the hand actually does.

Nine things you learn and practise over the three days.

  1. The scope and its controls

What every wheel, button and movement really does, and how to hold the scope so control feels natural.

  2. Safe intubation and advancement

A calm, ordered way to intubate and advance without losing your orientation from the first moment.

  3. Examining the oesophagus

What to look for, where beginners rush, and how to keep a systematic examination under time pressure.

  4. Examining the stomach

Moving inside the stomach without getting lost, including the positions and turns trainees find hardest.

  5. Examining the duodenum

Reaching and examining the duodenum with a technique you can repeat, not a move that worked by luck.

  6. Anatomical landmarks

The landmarks that anchor your examination, and the habits that make you spot lesions early.

  7. Common mistakes, corrected

The errors every beginner makes, why they happen, and the corrections that end them.

  8. What is rarely explained

The small practical adjustments experienced endoscopists take years to learn, shown and explained plainly.

  9. Supervised hands-on practice

Time with the scope in your hands, on a real patient, with individual feedback on your technique.

How each session runs

You will not spend the day watching.

  1. Focused teaching

Short and practical. Only the theory that makes the technique make sense.

  2. Live demonstration

Prof. Wahba shows each technique step by step and explains what his hands are doing.

  3. Supervised practice

You apply the same steps yourself, with the instructor beside you.

  4. Individual correction

Direct feedback on your grip, your control and the order of your examination.

  5. Cases and review

The situations you will meet in practice, and a review of the examination method.

Questions

Before you book.

Is the course right for my level?

It is built for doctors at the start of upper GI endoscopy training: residents, fellows and early-career gastroenterologists. Final admission criteria are confirmed before registration closes. If you are not sure, message us before you book.

Will I really scope a real patient?

Yes. Under Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Wahba's direct supervision you perform a complete upper endoscopy on a real patient. Every procedure is done with the patient's consent and under full clinical supervision, which is why the group is small.

Is the 25% discount real, and when does it end?

Yes. It is for the first group only and seats are limited. The offer closes when the group is full; after that the standard fee applies.

Is the certificate accredited?

Certificate details and the issuing body will be confirmed and published here. We will never claim an accreditation that does not exist.

What happens after I book?

You get a confirmation with the course date, the venue and what to prepare. Before the course we send you a reminder with the practical instructions.

Can I come from outside Cairo?

Of course. Doctors from other governorates are welcome; we share directions, parking and nearby places to stay.

Will this course qualify me to scope on my own?

No, and be wary of any short course that says otherwise. It builds your practical foundation, but independent practice needs formal specialist training, a supervised competency assessment and privileges from your institution. This course supports that path; it does not replace it.

This course is for qualified healthcare practitioners. Attendance alone does not grant clinical privileges or replace formal specialist training or supervised competency assessment. Participants remain responsible for meeting the requirements of their institutions and professional bodies. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Wahba's academic titles are given for identification only; the course is organised by Dextrology and does not imply sponsorship or endorsement by Cairo University or the Kasr Al Ainy hospitals.
